Year-Round Program

The year ‘round program at Masterworks is comprised of three sessions; two 12 week and one 7 week, spanning from September to June. Beginning in the fall, the Masterworks I class starts with the oldest known piece of art in history. and concludes with Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, of the Renaissance.

In January, the course picks up with the Dutch Masters of the early 1600’s . Called the “Winter Session”, the program guides the students to the beginning of the inspirational Impressionists.
The focus is on drawing and painting in this session. Additionally, cultural projects such as Mardi Gras, El Dia de los Muertos, and Easter, as well as fundamental art lessons like a color wheel, and light and shadow drawing are mixed in to all three sessions.
The final session in the year ‘round program culminates knowledge of all that came before in art and in the MASTERWORKS program. From the Impressionists to Contemporary have been explored by the end of the “Spring Session”.

Classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes long, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 3:30-5:15.

A substantial snack, related to the project, is served to each class. This enhances the children’s learning experience and helps to anchor in their minds, the historical, geographical and cultural aspects of the art they have created. There is also a Wednesday “short” class from 1:45-2:45. This class does a paired down version of the projects, and there is no snack.  Children may be 5 years old to attend this class. The curriculum is divided into Masterworks I and Masterworks II. The MW I classes are geared towards children ages 6-10. The projects in this group follow the Masterworks year ‘round program described above. MW II is aimed at children from 10-14, who have taken the year ‘round program, and it is considered the “Advanced Class”. The MW II curriculum builds on the artists’ techniques and fundamentals outlined in the MW I fine art program. Prior approval for the MW II class is needed if a child has not completed the MW I program.

If there are openings, the registration for the winter session, from January-March, will be up on the site in early December. Please email
lisa@masterworkskidart.com to be put on the first come first served list, as the openings will be limited.
Thank you!
