Summer Camps
Based in Old Corte Madera Square, we offer 1/2 day creative, individually themed, fine art camps for children 6-14 years old. During the six week summer schedule, camps run from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2 p.m.-5:30 p.m., with younger children enrolled in the a.m. session and older in the p.m. All materials, a snack and recess are included in each program. Camp dates vary slightly each year, please see registration for current year offerings. The weekly fee is $305. Some Camps will have an increased fee due to supplies.
Register online, payment through paypal or debit/credit card, or please send an email request for a brochure to lisa@masterworkskidsart.com. Due to several factors, we are not able to issue refunds after April 15th. Prior to April 15, partial refunds, minus admin costs are available, unless a camp is FULL. In that case, the spot must be filled for a refund.

The first summer camp of the season! Inspired by the rich variety in contemporary artists, students enjoy familiar talents such as Wayne Thiebaud and Georgia O’Keeffe, and are exposed to new inspirations through Duke Beardsley, Niki de Saint Falle, Ron Burns, Dale Chihuly and more. Still life’s, landscapes and portraits will be explored in a variety of mediums, including clay, paint (acrylic, tempera & watercolor) as well as chalk pastels.

Fashion Illustration Camp AM (ages 6-10)

One of our original camps at Masterworks, we have been doing this camp for 25 years! Working from reference photos of famous fashion illustrators we practice designing, color, shape and techniques to illustrate clothes, hair and accessories. Primarily a drawing and painting camp with some mixed media.

Fashion Illustration Camp PM (ages 11-14)

Inspired by fashion illustrators throughout history, this camp encourages design creativity related to texture, color, movement and artistic style. Looking at examples from well-known illustrators such as Laura Kay, Hayden Williams, Meghan Hess, Jason Brooks and those from antiquity like Coco Chanel, students will be provided reference and materials to create their own unique style.

Old Corte Madera Square provides great inspiration for the Impressionists plein air camp. Students will learn about the famous painters of this time period while painting and enjoying snacks outside, just as they did. A couple of the days we will stay inside as we focus on still life’s and portraits.

Masterworks students start drawing portraits at a very young age. We have offered this camp for over 20 years, and continue to be thrilled with the unique creative education it provides. Using a variety of artistic mediums such as paint, pastels and pencils our focus is portraits of people and animals.

A very favorite at Masterworks, we love to create portraits in a variety of mediums such as acrylic paint, tempera paint, watercolor, chalk pastels, colored pencil and graphite. Animals and people both illustrative and fine art are the subjects of our focus.

Women Artists Camp AM (ages 6-10)

As we venture through the ages in art history, we focus on women artists in this camp. From the Dutch Masters, Impressionists, Contemporary Artists and more, students learn about women artists while creating art in their styles. This is a drawing and painting camp. Although the subject matter may sound advanced, we at Masterworks have 25 years of experience creating with children of all ages!

Women Artists Camp PM (ages 11-14)

With a focus on women artists, this class exposes students to a variety of mediums through the study of women artists through the ages. From the beautiful Dutch Master florals of Rachel Ruysch, Impressionist portraits of Marie Cassatt, larger than life flowers and desert scenes of Georgia O’Keeffe, contemporary art of Amy Sheridan and Vicki Sawyer, and more this is a concentrated hands-on study of many beautiful works of art throughout history.

In keeping with art education, students will do hands-on projects learning about mythological Gods and Goddesses in Hindu, Greek, Egyptian, Norse and Anime/Manga cultures, students illustrate figures and their symbolism in a variety of mediums.

Mosaic Art Camp PM ONLY (ages 8-14)

Working with renowned mosaic artist Lisa Bookstein of B-Tiled mosaics, students embrace the patient art of mosaics. Creating 3 significant mosaic projects throughout the week, using a variety of ceramic and glass tiles, these pieces are treasure of a lifetime.
