Year-Round Program

The year ‘round program at Masterworks is comprised of three sessions. Spanning from September to May, there are two 12 week sessions and one 6 week session. Beginning in the fall, the Masterworks I and II classes start with the oldest known piece of art in history. and  by December conclude with Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, of the Renaissance.

In January, the course picks up with the Dutch Masters of the early 1600’s . Called the “Winter Session”, the program guides the students to the beginning of the inspirational Impressionists. The focus is also on drawing and painting in this session.

Additionally, cultural projects such as Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year, El Dia de los Muertos, and Easter are weaved into the program. Since Masterworks is a fine art program, fundamental art lessons such as the color wheel, and light and shadow drawing are mixed in to all three sessions.

The final session in the year ‘round program culminates knowledge of all that came before in art and in the MASTERWORKS program. The Impressionists to Contemporary Art have been explored by the end of the “Spring Session” in May.

Projects are rarely repeated for returning students who always have an opportunity to customize projects already completed. Advanced students continue to familiarize themselves with the Masters and Cultural Art as they hone their fine art skills.

Classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes long, designated by age. A substantial snack, related to the project, is served to each class. This enhances the children’s learning experience and helps to anchor in their minds, the historical, geographical and cultural aspects of the art they have created.
